Annual Meeting and Dinner – 2011
What an exciting dinner and meeting!
The evening began with a reception hour that included drinks, appetizers, great music, and conversation. Schimmel donated the use of one of their beautiful pianos for the pianist and upright bassist. Both Keyboard Carriage and Walter’s Moving donated their assistance in moving the piano in and out for the evening. It was a great time to get caught up with one another.
Dinner included Roast Beef with Au Jus, served by a Carver, Penne Pasta, salads, an array of veggies, capped off with a great Apple Crisp with Kentucky Bourbon sauce. Yum Yum.
The meeting was called to order by President Dick Christian. The Minutes of the last meeting and the Treasure’s report were read and approved. The Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Lloyd Meyer. Bob Popyk, Paul Jansen, and Dawn DeMars shared their stories and adventures of their earlier association with Lloyd.
Under new business, Dawn presented the two choices that the association was facing. First, to raise the funds to incorporate and gain a legal non-profit status so we could move forward and have a basis from which to raise money for projects that would benefit both our members, the piano industry, and future piano customers. The second option presented was to end the association as a ‘dues paying association, and to meet as a group of friends for dinner each year at the Namm Show. She read letters sent in from members who could not attend, including their views in favor of choice 1 along with their pledges for contributions for legal fees and general expenses should the members vote to continue the association.
Then the floor was opened for discussion. Many members shared their views and many pledges were given as well. Dick called for a motion, a second to the motion, and the vote was unanimous in favor of continuation. By the end of the evening there were enough pledges to pay the anticipated legal fees and expenses.
Nominations were made for the position of Vice-President, votes were cast, and Ray Chandler became our new Vice-President. Dick Christian was honored with an award for his service and the member’s thanks as he becomes a “past president’. The meeting was turned over to our new President, Glenn Clutter, and the meeting was adjourned.
